11 Kitchen Cabinet Paint Color Ideas for 2027 (Plus 3 to Skip)
Are you tired of looking at your kitchen cabinets?
Maybe they're the honey oak that came with the house. Maybe they're white, but scuffed and a little yellow. Either way, paint can make them look brand new.
We're Kenneth and Nikki Enders. Our family has painted homes across the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon for more than 20 years. Kitchen cabinets are one of our favorite jobs, because the change is so big.
Here are 11 cabinet colors we love for 2027, plus 3 we'd skip.
Winter offer: $200 off every $1,000 on interior painting projects of $5,000 or more. There's no cap. A $7,000 job costs you $5,600. Request your free estimate by Sunday, November 15. See how the winter painting offer works.
Green Kitchen Cabinets: The Big Color for 2027
Green is everywhere this year. Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Behr all picked a green as their 2027 Color of the Year. It looks right at home here, next to our sagebrush hills and pine trees.
1. Webster Green HC-130 (Benjamin Moore)

Webster Green is Benjamin Moore's 2027 Color of the Year. It's a classic mid-tone green, not too light and not too dark (LRV 20).
It looks great with brass pulls, butcher block and cream walls. Read our full post on Webster Green for more ideas.
2. Artichoke SW 6179 (Sherwin-Williams)

Want an olive green? Artichoke is a deep, earthy green with a little yellow and gray in it (LRV 21). Sherwin-Williams even suggests it for kitchens.
It's lovely with wood floors, warm stone counters and aged bronze hardware. We first picked it for cabinets in our post on Sherwin-Williams' Celery. Behr's olive pick, Grounded, is another good one.
3. Saybrook Sage HC-114 (Benjamin Moore)

Like green, but want it soft? Try Saybrook Sage. It's a light, gray-green sage (LRV 45).
It feels calm and fresh, and it fits almost any kitchen. Pair it with white counters and black or brass pulls.
Deep, Moody Cabinet Colors
Dark cabinets feel rich and cozy. They also hide little fingerprints better than white does!
4. Hale Navy HC-154 (Benjamin Moore)

Navy is a classic for a reason. Hale Navy is a deep, true navy (LRV 8).
It looks sharp with white counters and brass hardware. It's a great pick for an island, too.
5. Dark Night SW 6237 (Sherwin-Williams)

Want something a little different from navy? Dark Night is a deep, inky blue with a slate-green feel (LRV 4).
It's bold and so pretty. It looks best in a kitchen with light walls and plenty of daylight.
6. Kendall Charcoal HC-166 (Benjamin Moore)

Kendall Charcoal is a soft charcoal gray (LRV 15). It's moody, but not as heavy as black.
It's a smart choice for lower cabinets, with lighter uppers or open shelves above.
7. Black Fox SW 7020 (Sherwin-Williams)

Want black cabinets without a harsh look? Black Fox is a soft black with a warm, brownish-gray tone (LRV 7).
It's bold and cozy at the same time. Pair it with wood shelves and warm white walls.
Timeless Light Cabinet Colors
Light cabinets keep a kitchen bright, and that matters on short winter days. They're also a safe pick if you plan to sell in a few years.
8. White Dove OC-17 (Benjamin Moore)

White Dove is a favorite white for cabinets. It's a soft white with just a hint of warmth (LRV 83), so it won't look stark or cold.
9. Alabaster SW 7008 (Sherwin-Williams)

Alabaster is a warm, creamy white (LRV 82). It's a little cozier than White Dove.
It looks lovely with wood floors and warm counters. It's also on our list of 10 timeless interior paint colors.
10. Agreeable Gray SW 7029 (Sherwin-Williams)

Not a fan of white? Try greige, a mix of gray and beige. Sherwin-Williams calls Agreeable Gray its best-selling paint color (LRV 60).
It's a light gray with a warm beige undertone. It works with almost any counter or floor.
One Warm Surprise
11. Cavern Clay SW 7701 (Sherwin-Williams)

Cavern Clay is a muted terracotta, like warm desert clay (LRV 20).
It's not for everyone, and that's the fun of it! Try it on an island or a coffee bar first.
Can't Pick Just One? Go Two-Tone

Two colors can look great together. Here are three easy combos from this list:
Hale Navy island with White Dove cabinets
Kendall Charcoal lowers with Alabaster uppers
Webster Green island with White Dove cabinets
Start with the island. If you still love the color in a year, you can add more.

3 Cabinet Colors We'd Skip
Not every color is a good fit for cabinets. Here are three we'd think twice about.
Stark white with a blue tint. In a north-facing kitchen in winter, it can look gray and cold. A soft white like White Dove or Alabaster feels warmer.
Cool, flat gray. Gray kitchens were everywhere about 10 years ago. Today, a cool gray can make a kitchen look dated. If you love gray, pick a warm greige like Agreeable Gray.
A loud color on every door. Bright red, yellow or turquoise can be fun! But on every cabinet, it can get old fast. Put a bold color on the island instead.
How to Pick Your Cabinet Color
Look at what's staying. Hold samples next to your counters, backsplash and floors.
Check your light. Our low winter sun makes colors look darker in north-facing kitchens. Look at your samples in the morning, the afternoon and at night.
Think about your pulls. New pulls make painted cabinets look even better. If you'd like new ones, we can have them installed as an add-on.
Our tip: Every free estimate comes with a free color consultation and free samples. You can see these colors in your own kitchen before you decide.
