Benjamin Moore 2027 Color of the Year: Webster Green HC-130
Benjamin Moore just named its 2027 Color of the Year, and it's green!
It's called Webster Green HC-130, and we love it.
Earlier this month, we looked back at seven years of Benjamin Moore's picks and promised to break down 2027 as soon as it came out. Here it is!
That makes it three for three this year. Sherwin-Williams picked Celery, a light, fresh green. Behr picked Grounded, an earthy olive. Now Benjamin Moore has joined the green team too.
So if you've been waiting for a sign to bring some color back into your home, this is it.
We're Kenneth and Nikki Enders. Our family has painted homes across the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon for more than 20 years. Here's what we think of Webster Green, where we'd use it, and what we'd pair it with.
Winter offer: $200 off every $1,000 on interior painting projects of $5,000 or more. There's no cap. A $7,000 job costs you $5,600. Request your free estimate by Sunday, November 15. See how the winter painting offer works.
What Color Is Webster Green?

Webster Green is a mid-tone green. It's not a pale sage, and it's not so dark that it looks black. Benjamin Moore says it sits right between blue and yellow. So it doesn't feel cold, and it doesn't feel too warm. It just looks like a good, honest green.
Code: Benjamin Moore Webster Green HC-130
Collection: Historical Colors, which is why it feels so classic
LRV: 20.2
What's LRV? It stands for light reflectance value. It tells you how much light a color bounces back. Black is 0 and pure white is 100. At 20, Webster Green is on the deeper side.
Here in Idaho and Eastern Oregon, it looks right at home with our sagebrush hills and evergreen trees.
A Quick Winter Light Tip
From November through February, our sun sits low in the sky.
In a north-facing room, Webster Green will look deeper and moodier, almost like a pine tree. In a sunny south- or west-facing room, it will look brighter and greener.
Both look great. Just know which one you'll get before you paint! Our post on warm neutral paint colors explains more about how winter light changes paint.
7 Ways to Use Webster Green in Your Home
1. Paint the Built-Ins

This might be our favorite one.
Picture the bookshelves on both sides of your fireplace painted green, with soft white walls around them. Suddenly they look custom, like they were always meant to be there.
Benjamin Moore shows Webster Green on built-ins too. We'd use a satin or semi-gloss finish. It wipes clean, even after little hands.
2. Try It on Trim and Doors

Here's one most people don't think of.
Keep the walls a soft white. Then paint the trim, the doors and even the stair risers green. Benjamin Moore pairs it with White Down OC-131 on the walls, and it's so pretty.
This is a fun way to make a plain hallway or staircase feel special.
3. Color Drench a Den or Office

Color drenching means painting the walls, trim and even the ceiling all one color.
In a small den or home office, Webster Green wraps you up like a cozy sweater. Turn on a lamp. Grab a blanket and a good book. You won't want to leave on a snowy night!
We shared another color-drenched room in our post on Behr's Grounded.
4. Give the Kitchen Island Some Color

Not ready for an all-green kitchen? Start with the island!
A green island with cream cabinets around it is a small step that changes the whole room. It looks great with wood, butcher block and brass pulls.

5. Update a Bathroom Vanity

A green vanity is an easy way to try this color in a small space.
Bathroom cabinets get steamy every single day. So good prep and the right finish matter just as much as the color.
6. Make the Entryway Count

The entry is the first thing guests see. A green entry, or a green bench and cubbies in the mudroom, says "welcome home."
Treasure Valley winters mean wet boots and snowy coats. So pick a finish you can scrub!
7. Paint the Wall Behind the Bed

If a whole green room feels like a lot, start with one wall.
Webster Green behind the bed, with cream bedding and wood nightstands, feels calm and grown up. It's also a great way to test the color before you go bigger. Here are more ideas on how to use accent walls.
What about the front door? It looks great there too! But exterior paint needs mild, dry weather. Around here, that's a spring job. For now, enjoy Webster Green on your interior walls, trim and cabinets.
Colors That Go With Webster Green
Benjamin Moore picked eight colors to go with Webster Green. Here are the four we'd reach for first.
White Down (OC-131)

A soft white with a hint of cream (LRV 77). Use it on walls, trim and ceilings. It keeps the green from looking harsh.
Shakespeare Tan (228)

A golden tan that reminds Benjamin Moore of early fall sunlight (LRV 47). It's great in a room right next to a green one.
Nelson Blue (CW-635)

A pale, watery blue with a little green in it (LRV 65). It's soft enough for a bedroom or bathroom.
Townsend Harbor Brown (HC-64)

A deep brown with a touch of burgundy (LRV 8). This is the bold one. Try it in a dining room or powder room.
One Easy Whole-House Plan
You don't need green in every room! Here's one way to use these colors together:
Main living areas, halls and ceilings: White Down
Den, office or built-ins: Webster Green
Dining room: Shakespeare Tan
Bedrooms or bathrooms: Nelson Blue
Trim and doors: White Down, or Webster Green if you want them to pop

Try Before You Paint
Darker colors change a lot from morning to night. So test first!
Go big. Use a sample at least the size of a sheet of paper, on two walls.
Look three times a day. Check it in the morning, late afternoon and at night with the lamps on.
Check it next to what's staying. Make sure it works with your floors, counters and furniture.
Our tip: Every free estimate comes with a free color consultation and free samples. You can see Webster Green in your own home before you decide.
