Behr Just Announced Its 2027 Color of the Year—and We LOVE It

If you’ve been waiting for permission to bring a little more color back into your home, this might be it.

Behr just announced its 2027 Color of the Year: Grounded (T27-01), and we think this one is going to be everywhere.

Grounded is a rich, mossy olive green with earthy brown undertones. Behr describes it as a color that can transform everyday spaces into personal sanctuaries, and we can absolutely see why.

It has color without feeling overly trendy. It’s moody without being too dark. And because of those warm brown undertones, it works beautifully with so many of the materials we already see in homes throughout the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon—wood flooring, leather, stone, warm neutrals, natural textiles, and black or brass accents.

For homeowners in Payette, Fruitland, Weiser, Ontario, Vale, Caldwell, Nampa, Boise, and the surrounding communities, Grounded is a great example of how a deeper paint color can completely change a room without requiring a major remodel.

Here are three places we especially love it.

1. Color Drench a Cozy Sitting Room

This may be our favorite way to use Grounded.

This technique is called color drenching, and it creates a completely different feeling than a traditional accent wall.

Rather than breaking the room into separate pieces, one rich color ties everything together. Architectural details become part of the design instead of competing with it.

• Earthy brown and beige cushions

• Textured neutral pillows

• Genuine leather accent chairs

Bedrooms are another place where homeowners are becoming much more willing to embrace deeper color.

For years, bedrooms were almost automatically painted white, beige, or light gray.

But your bedroom doesn’t necessarily need to feel bright.

It needs to feel restful.

Grounded can create a gorgeous, moody backdrop that immediately makes a primary or master bedroom feel more intentional and luxurious.

3. Finally Move Beyond White Kitchen Cabinets

This one may be a little more daring—but we think it could be incredible.
